Mat RobertsMat has been writing, recording and playing since October 1990 when he was 13. Since then, he has recorded hundreds and hundreds of songs. In 1997 he even had the mad idea of recording “an album a month” which he released on cassette and gave to friends and family.

Every spare penny that he has earned since he was 13 has gone towards building the studio. Mat collects vintage gear and is especially proud of his Fender Rhodes Piano and his Wurlitzer. He also loves his pink paisley Fender Strat that he bought cheaply in 1995 and is now worth close to £1000!! Tash refers Mat as “a total trainspotter” because of his obsession and appreciation of music and gear (he owns about 5000 vinyl and probably even more cd’s!!).

He has a wide range of influences including Marc Bolan (TRex), Prince, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and Neil Finn. One of his proudest moments was singing “Kiss” onstage with Prince at a small launch party for “Rave unto the Joy Fantastic” in London in 1999. Although his music can be described as guitar based pop music, it is clear that his influences come from various other styles.

Mat’s main aim is to make as many records as possible (preferably at least one a year) and get his music heard by as many people as possible.
